Victor Chacon talks about his experience at Grundig IT so far.
Working at Grundig IT since September 2017 has taught me a lot about computer and network support. In school, you can only learn so much in controlled environments. At Grundig IT, I have been able to see what real user needs are and build my experience from there. The skills that have improved the most since working at Grundig IT have been: backup, domain environments, and troubleshooting.
When it comes to skills, my strength is definitely computer hardware. Before I went to IT school, I already had experience working and building high performance computers for myself and friends. This resulted from my gaming and video editing hobbies. If it was not for these hobbies, I most likely would have not found this career. Other notable skills in my possession are workstation installations, networking, backup and disk cloning, Microsoft Office, malware clean out and security, profile data transfer, and setup of peripheral devices.
What do you like about working at Grundig IT?
There are many things I like about working at Grundig IT, but a few stand out over the others. Working with different business environments has helped me get to know new technology, software applications and different Microsoft networking technology. This makes coming in to work exciting every day. Another reason is how much we care about our clients; we are always looking for the best solution for them and aim to give our best support. Documentation is probably the biggest thing I like about working here. Every business has their own way of documenting, but Grundig IT’s method has made it easy for me to find information about any client and be ready to work on any issue within minutes.
I attended Diablo Valley College for three years and finished two Associates Degrees. The first one is Computer Technical Support which I finished in 2016. That focused more on desktop and user support by teaching me computer hardware, Windows operating systems and troubleshooting. The second degree is in Server and System Administrator, which focused more on Networking, Windows Server operating systems, Virtualization, and overall Server Administration. These degrees prepared me for the different types of business environments that Grundig IT works with.
