Remote Access
Worried about Coronavirus and lockdown? There are ways to work remotely. Grundig IT will help you be productive during this period.
Stuck at home for a few weeks, or more? Can’t escape except to get food or medicine? Don’t worry. There are still ways to get things done and to access your work computer when not seated in front of it via remote access.
Most workplaces offer one of 2 remote options:
VPN or remote control. Or both.
Either way, an Internet connection is required for these to work, but that should not be a problem for most.
A VPN allows you to establish a secure connection to the work environment and provide the ability to access and work on files stored on the office network. If your workplace allows VPN access, they would probably have let you know by now and would have described the procedure for accessing it.
Remote control comes in 2 flavors:
Remote Desktop
OR
A Remote Control tool such as GoToMyPC or LogMeIN.
If you are a Grundig IT client, you know that we have already setup LogMeIN on our clients’ servers and workstations to provide remote support. This LogMeIN access CAN BE SHARED with you. If you desire, we will share LogMeIN access to your workstation with you – enabling you to get some work done while you are not there. Please contact us for details and we will explain how it works. Setup is simple and getting used to it is easy.
NOTE: We offer this as a free service for our clients. Grundig IT has already made the investment in LogMeIn and we want to share it with you, for free.
Concerned about LogMeIN security? Don’t worry. Every LogMeIN connection requires 2-factor authentication. This means that anyone who is going to remotely access a workstation will have to know ALL of the following:
- Their LogMeIN username
- Their LogMeIN password
- The workstation username
- The workstation password
- AND be able to receive the 2-factor authentication code on their own mobile phone or at their own email address EACH time when logging in.
